Grand Avenue Lighting

The $28.6M two-year makeover of Main Avenue in downtown Fargo was a joint project between the NDDOT and City of Fargo to transform Main Avenue into a safe and accessible passageway into the heart of downtown. Theproject improved the 50-60 year old aging infrastructure and an aging driving surface while improving the pedestrian experience through the downtown corridor. Work included repaved roads that provided a smoother driving surface and improved drainage. The installation of traffic signals, pedestrian crossing signals, bridge, and street lighting starting at I-35 and running nearly 4.8 miles along Grand Avenue for greater accessibility and safety to pedestrians in the area.
